New (used) 915 61/12 LSD transmission!

I found a pretty good deal on an Aluminum case 915/61 option '12' transmission which is a factory ZF clutch pack LSD unit. Not sure what the lockup is, but it will surely be an upgrade over my magnesium case 61 tranny with the same gearset.

Valve adjustment and Powdercoated valve covers

Adjusted the valves (checked everything several times until I got them all perfect) and installed the valve covers.

More Rust Repairs - Rocker Panel

The outside rocker panel on the passenger side was rough...several hours later we at least have something to work with.

Preparation for Electronic Fuel Injection conversion

While my car ran great, I am just NOT a big fan of CIS injection nor carbs. Call me "new school" but I understand the merits of technology and am not afraid to adapt it to the car.

Driver, Steering, and Pedal location planning

Well I kept on going with the gutting. While I was at it I got some ideas on the seat, steering wheel, and driver placement too!

Removed the sound deadening tar off the floor

As much complaining as I've heard about this, I just got after it with a craftsman scraper, a rubber mallet, some gloves, and a pair of safety goggles.

Rust repair on front suspension and gas tank support.

The front lower suspension pan is a pretty common rust spot on older 911's. Reason is from the battery not being sealed nor being in its own container and the acidic fumes and leaks eventually get through the protective layers. Mine was BAD for a '77 car (which should have been galvanized). Of course, you could rust plastic in Louisiana by putting it out in a field (where I found the car).

Brake Rebuild / Engine Tune up

rebuilt the factory calipers and also got the hard lines and some Stainless flexible lines while I was at it. Master cylinder is still good and got the brakes good enough to drive down the street.

Started the blog today. History

Hello, My name is Patrick Harris and I'm a car-o-holic. Ok maybe worse than some but I really enjoy taking someone's junk car and making it spectacular. I've built more than a few "awesome" cars by most people's standards and I hope you will enjoy the build of this Porsche 911.
